Oneida County crash claims life of 22-year-old driver, injures passenger

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — One person is dead after a single-car crash on Cooper Street in the Town of Westmoreland early Sunday morning, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.

Sheriff Maciol said that deputies responded to the scene around 1:05 a.m. where they found Cody Tarkowski, 22, of Westmoreland, had been driving a pick-up truck westbound when he lost control. The vehicle veered off the northern shoulder and struck a telephone pole, ejecting Tarkowski from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gabrielle Gerace, 26, also of Westmoreland, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was transported to Wynn Hospital by COCVAC Ambulance for evaluation and was treated for minor injuries…
