SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A man convicted of murder in connection to the death of a woman was sentenced to more than 20 years behind bars in Onondaga County Court on Monday.
Jhon Chacaguasay-Ilbis, who was in the country unlawfully, will serve 23 years to life in prison for the death of Joselyn Toaquiza. Chacaguasay-Ilbis pleaded guilty to the crime on Jan. 21.
In court on Monday, the family of Toaquiza said she was everything to them. Chacaguasay-Ilbis apologized. He said, “I am responsible for everything.”…
