City of Syracuse uses five million gallons of water a day more than normal

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Either low water or no water in some Syracuse neighborhoods had residents calling up their common councilors, asking why. The common councilors sat down with members of the city’s Water Department to discuss the issue.

“We wanted to learn about the issues we are having with reservoirs, leaks, affecting the flow of water,” Common Councilor Amir Gethers said.

The City of Syracuse uses five million gallons of water daily more than normal. It’s also estimated that between 150 to 200 million gallons of treated water could have been lost since mid-January.
