Syracuse, N.Y. — Several Central New York counties want to hire state correctional officers fired for striking, but they haven’t been able to because guards were decertified by the state when they were terminated for not returning to work.
Oneida and Chemung counties filed lawsuits to try overturn Gov. Kathy Hochul’s executive order so they can hire the guards. Onondaga County also wants to hire some of the guards.
