Defendant in missing child case wasn’t read Miranda Rights at first, hearing reveals

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A hearing in Onondaga County Court on Thursday revealed that a defendant in a case regarding a missing child was not read his Miranda Rights upon his arrest.

A Syracuse Police Detective who was involved in the investigation told Assistant District Attorney Rob Moran that Corrice Parks was not read his Miranda Rights at the moment of his arrest in late March 2024 due to the nature of the case.

Parks is accused of helping bury and conceal the body of 5-year-old Nefertiti Harris, who was the daughter of his then-girlfriend, Latasha Mott, who is also facing criminal charges…
