RIP Mimi Griswold: Longtime “Blue Moon Cafe” host dies at 67

SYRACUSE — Mimi Griswold, a longtime employee of locally-owned Galaxy Media, died on Thursday at the age of 67. While she wore multiple hats within Galaxy, she was perhaps best known for hosting the “Blue Moon Cafe” which aired Sundays on Syracuse’s TK99/TK105 (WTKV/WTKW) and Utica’s 96.9 WOUR.

Griswold spent more than 25 years with the company, starting as the PD for Modern Rock K-Rock in 1992. Just six years later, she was VP of Programming for all of Galaxy’s stations in the two markets.

Griswold retired from the company twice — once in 2012, from her full-time duties, but she would continue hosting her popular Sunday show. She even “un-retired” briefly in 2013 to hold down afternoons on WOUR. And again in 2022, when she stepped away from hosting the Blue Moon Cafe…
