3 Syracuse-area restaurants flip their way into the state’s top-burger finals

Three Syracuse-area restaurants have cracked the top 10 in the annual battle for burger supremacy, including a newcomer to the local restaurant scene.

The New York Beef Council today announced the Top 10 finalists in its ninth annual Best NY Burger Competition. Seven-time winner Ale & Angus is once again in the final round. Brewer Union in Brewerton once again is a finalist. Get Smashed, a 1-year-old pop-up kitchen making smashburgers out of Mother’s Cupboard on James street, broke into the top 10.

These locals now find themselves among the elite, rising from a statewide field of nominees after public voting wrapped up last week. They’ll soon face the final test: a visit from undercover judges who will rate their burgers on taste, presentation and proper doneness…
