Hundreds of customers have recently attended New York State Electric and Gas events throughout the Southern Tier to voice their concerns about rising bills and to receive direct feedback from NYSEG representatives.
Shelby Cohen, a NYSEG spokesperson, recently said at a NYSEG event in Campbell that new smart meters are not to blame for increased prices this winter.
“The reason customers may be seeing a rise in their bill is energy supply cost, controlled by the New York State Independent System Operator , is higher this year than I have ever seen it,” Cohen said. “They are up by orders of magnitude, soaring in January and February, but we are starting to see them go back down a little bit.”…
