SYRACUSE, N.Y. — New York State public schools are preparing to implement a comprehensive ban on cell phones and other internet-connected devices during school hours, following a $13.5 million allocation in Governor Kathy Hochul’s budget for enforcement.
The legislation mandates a “bell-to-bell” device ban, affecting not only cell phones but any device capable of connecting to the internet. School districts, including the Syracuse City School District, are exploring various methods to comply.
