Court upholds ex-officer’s conviction for abusing minor

A New York appeals court has upheld the conviction of former Auburn school resource officer William Morrissey III for sexually abusing a 14-year-old student, according to officials. Morrissey, who worked for the Auburn Police Department, was sentenced in 2024 to two years in state prison.

Investigators found overwhelming evidence that Morrissey pursued an inappropriate relationship, sending explicit messages while stationed at Auburn High School. He pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse and disseminating indecent material to a minor, among other charges.
