1. Rite Aid closings could lead to pharmacy deserts across New York

More than 175 Rite Aid pharmacies across New York state will shut down after the company says it once again filed for bankruptcy, according to a news release sent out by the company Monday. In the hamlet of Ransomville, in the town of Porter, a Rite Aid that has been serving the community since the early 1990s is the only pharmacy within miles, leaving people who live there with nowhere to get their prescriptions once it closes.
