Mother and son linked to bail bond scheme that cost people thousands set to avoid prison

Syracuse, N.Y. — A mother and son who helped run a months-long fraudulent bail bond scheme have pleaded guilty to stealing money from victims but are set to avoid prison time.

At least 36 people were victims of the scheme. The victims put up money or property for bail bonds to keep themselves or someone else out of jail, only to find out the bonds were fraudulent.
