Brandon’s Bites: Wendy’s Diner

CASSVILLE, N.Y. — The New York Beef Council is set to announce the winner of its 9th annual Best Burger competition on Monday, with ten burgers making the final cut, including five from Central New York.

Among the contenders are three Syracuse restaurants: seven-time winner Ale & Angus, returning finalist Brewer Union Café, and another returning finalist, Get Smashed. They are joined by Roosters in Utica and a newcomer from Oneida County, Wendy’s Diner.

Wendy’s Diner, located in the small town of Cassville, has been owned and operated by the Brown family for 17 years. Wendy Brown, the owner, said this year’s entry, the “Cody Burger,” is a double bacon cheeseburger loaded with grilled onions, mushrooms, lettuce, and tomato…
