Damage reports from severe storms Saturday, big cool down this week, near records

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Severe thunderstorms caused plenty of damage across the Northeast on Saturday, from damaging wind gusts causing downed trees and wires, to large hail, and flooding leading to washed out roads. Notice, there were many reports in the immediate CNY area.

Plenty of flooding in the state of Vermont, especially near Burlington and Barre, plus hail the size of golf balls reported:

The cold front that brought us severe weather yesterday is now exiting east, behind it much cooler air for today. Also, the center of this system will linger over CNY with cloudy skies and light rain showers today.

There will be a big temperature drop behind this weather system. Yesterday, the high temperature reached 82 degrees in Syracuse, today we will only be in the mid 50s.

Temperatures will hover in the mid 50s all day today, here’s a look at the forecast for CNY:

Plus, it will be in the 50s most of this upcoming week, ranging from 10 to 20 degrees below average all week. This time of year, highs should normally be around 70 degrees. Plus, we could break a record on Thursday for the coldest high temperature, the record is 51 degrees and we are only forecasting a high of 50 degrees.
