Five local school districts begin to create new budgets after facing rejection from voters

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It’s back to the drawing board for five local school districts after their budgets were turned down by voters last week.

Tuesday, May 20’s vote was the first time in nine years that Tom Colabufo, Central Square’s superintendent, had a budget turned down.

“I think the main reason was it was 6.86%. When you go out with a tax increase that high, I think that is sticker shock for a lot of people,” Colabufo said…
