ShotSpotter detects shooting in Syracuse, man shot in the back

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A 24-year-old man was shot in the back in Syracuse early in the morning on Saturday, May 31.

Just before 1 a.m., Syracuse Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation for multiple rounds on the 1100 block of South Townsend Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered multiple shell casings in the area. While units were responding to this scene, officers were made aware that a shooting victim had arrived at the emergency room at Upstate Hospital…
