A 22-year veteran of the New York State Department of Transportation has been tragically killed in a work zone crash in Pittstown, New York.

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is mourning the loss of a highway maintenance supervisor who passed away Friday, May 30th, 2025, after suffering catastrophic injuries related to a work zone crash.

Highway Worker Killed in Upstate New York

According to the NYSDOT, Highway Maintenance Supervisor Robert Bornt passed away after suffering catastrophic injuries related to a work zone crash in a flagging operation in Pittstown, NY. The DOT made the sad announcement on Facebook, saying,
