New York’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) has hit a significant milestone. Public Partnerships LLC (PPL), the state’s official fiscal intermediary, announced this week that it has issued over $1 billion in gross payroll to more than 214,000 personal assistants (PAs) since the launch of its statewide payroll system.
In just the ninth pay cycle alone, over 191,000 caregivers received payments, with 98% of submitted timesheets processed successfully. The remaining 2% are under review due to documentation or authorization issues.
What is CDPAP?
CDPAP is a Medicaid-funded program that allows individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses to hire and direct their own caregivers—often a trusted friend or family member—rather than relying on traditional home care agencies.
PPL manages payroll, training, and program resources for the initiative in New York, providing the tools necessary to ensure smooth and accurate compensation for caregivers.
