Sharon Owens dominates Democratic primary for mayor of Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens dominated the Democratic primary for mayor of Syracuse, defeating Common Councilors Pat Hogan and Chol Majok.

After a vast majority of the votes were counted, Owens led Hogan by almost 40%.

  • Sharon Owens: 62.32%
  • Pat Hogan: 22.79%
  • Chol Majok: 14.75%

Owens received a concession call from Hogan just before 11pm.

In a speech to her supporters, Owens began with a moment of silence, calling the moment “bittersweet” because of the gun violence in Syracuse the last two days…
