Syracuse Police name victim, increase officers at pools following homicide

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse City pools will have an increased police presence for the foreseeable future after one of them was the scene of a homicide on June 24.

Syracuse Police Officers responded to Onondaga Park around 2 p.m. after a gunshot rang out by the park’s pool. A 15-year-old male was struck by gunfire and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. He was identified by police as Adhon Thomas on Wednesday morning.

According to Syracuse Police Spokesperson Kieran Coffey, it is “believed” that there was one officer at the park at the time of the shooting, but they were not in the area of the pool…
