Advanced Nuclear Power Plant Coming to Upstate New York

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has directed the New York Power Authority to develop and construct a zero-emission advanced nuclear power plant in Upstate New York.

Gov. Hochul has announced a new initiative instructing the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to begin developing and constructing a new advanced nuclear power plant. The plant will be the first new nuclear power plant constructed in New York State in a “generation,” according to a press release.

New Nuclear Power Plant Coming to Upstate New York

The new initiative will help support a reliable and affordable electric grid for New Yorkers, while providing the necessary zero-emission electricity to achieve a clean energy economy. Gov. Hochul made the announcement Monday, stating,

“As New York State electrifies its economy, deactivates aging fossil fuel power generation and continues to attract large manufacturers that create good-paying jobs, we must embrace an energy policy of abundance that centers on energy independence and supply chain security to ensure New York controls its energy future.”…
