NY attorney general reaches settlement with Elmira firm over unpaid sick leave for workers

An Elmira manufacturing business has agreed to pay thousands of dollars in unpaid sick leave benefits to unionized workers under a settlement reached with the New York State Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Letitia James announced July 1 that Southern Tier Custom Fabricators, a sheet metal manufacturer located at 1322 College Ave. in Elmira, agreed to repay more than $148,000 in restitution after failing to provide paid sick leave to unionized employees during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
