Port Byron man sentenced for fatal kitten abuse

A 23-year-old Cayuga County man has been sentenced for throwing a kitten so violently it had to be euthanized, according to The Citizen.

Jeremy J. McNair of Port Byron will serve weekend jail time for four months and five years of felony probation for aggravated animal cruelty. He’s also barred from owning pets and must pay restitution to the Finger Lakes SPCA, which cared for the injured animal.

The July 2024 incident severed the kitten’s spinal cord. McNair pleaded guilty in May, and his sentence includes concurrent probation for a second misdemeanor cruelty charge…
