SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR) — Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh wants to take his Vision Zero Initiative, which aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries from traffic accidents, a step further. But Walsh has to get the city’s Common Council on board.
Over the past several years, many people have been killed and injured in crashes on Syracuse’s streets. The mayor believes no one should suffer that fate.
“When you look at the data, it shows a real problem here,” Walsh said. “We have many, what would otherwise be, avoidable accidents where people are being seriously injured and killed, and our biggest priority is public safety. So it’s our duty to do something about it.”…
