Man charged in suspicious death of Syracuse woman after status check

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Syracuse Police have charged a man for a crime that began with a status check.

On Friday, July 18, at 2:25 p.m., Syracuse Police Officers responded to 103 Glass Terrance to help another agency with a status check. Upon their arrival, they were notified that a female, later identified as 40-year-old Nicole Azzoto of Syracuse, was deceased in the residence under suspicious circumstances. Azzoto was declared deceased at the scene.

The discovery prompted an investigation by CID Homicide Unit detectives, during which numerous people were interviewed, and an extensive neighborhood and citywide canvass was conducted. Several search warrants were also executed, and recovered evidence was processed and thoroughly analyzed…
