BANGOR, Maine — A New York man has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for conspiring to traffic firearms from Maine to New York and for illegally possessing a gun as a convicted felon, according to the United States Attorney’s Office District of Maine.
Tyquinn Montell Cannon, 32, of Syracuse, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to 45 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, federal prosecutors said in a news release. He pleaded guilty on June 17, 2024, to conspiracy to violate federal firearms laws and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Prosecutors said Cannon, also known as “Q,” coordinated with individuals in Maine and New York beginning in May 2022 to illegally obtain firearms through straw purchases at federally licensed firearms dealers in central and southern Maine.
