SHERRILL, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — New York State Police arrested a Syracuse man in Sherrill over the weekend after a traffic stop revealed over 150 grams of various drugs.
New York State Police stopped a man — later identified as 27-year-old Edwight LaFlair of Syracuse — who was showing signs of impairment and failed sobriety tests. Police say LaFlair also eventually produced a breath sample, which registered as a .12, one and a half times the legal limit.
LaFlair was taken into custody for DWI at the scene. An inventory of his vehicle revealed two different narcotics, a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number, and various drug paraphernalia. In all, the inventory found the following:
- Just under 140 grams of cocaine,
- Just over 12 grams of fentanyl,
- Two Glock-brand handguns,
- a 33-round high-capacity magazine,
- Ammunition, and
- other drug paraphernalia.
LaFlair was transported to the Oneida County Jail, pending arraignment in Oneida County CAP Court. He is currently being charged with:
- Driving While Intoxicated, an unknown Misdemeanor,
- Willful Defacement of a Firearm, a Class D Felony,
- third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a Class D Felony,
- Second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a Class C Felony,
- Third-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class B Felony, as well as
- Numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
