Syracuse, NY — Upstate Medical University’s economic impact has nearly doubled to $3.2 billion over the past 16 years, according to a study commissioned by the region’s biggest employer.
Even when factoring in inflation, Upstate still pumps 50% more into the state economy than it did in 2008, said Paul Umbach, founder of a research group that has studied Upstate’s economic growth since 2008.
