Churchill: Enough with the ‘war’ talk, governor

ALBANY — The Texas Democrats who fled Austin to block a vote on their state’s plan to redraw congressional districts made unfortunate travel choices, if the goal was to protest partisan cheating.

One group, for example, journeyed to Illinois, home to some of the nation’s most gerrymandered districts, including two shaped like lightning bolts. As the Wall Street Journal noted, 14 of the state’s 17 congressional districts are held by Democrats, despite the party winning just 53 percent of the 2024 congressional vote.
