AUBURN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Over the course of three days last week, 11 Auburn Correctional Facility staff became ill after being exposed to an unknown substance.
Three incidents were confirmed by the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (the prison guards’ union) and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (the state department that oversees the prison system).
All officers were sent to Auburn Hospital and eventually were cleared to return to work. But their union said this was no isolated incident and that prisons statewide have dealt with similar exposure incidents…
