SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Crime in Syracuse has dropped precipitously in multiple areas this year compared to last year and the five-year average, Mayor Ben Walsh and Police Chief Joe Cecile said Thursday.
Citing the latest Comparative Statistics data issued this week, the two said overall crime had dropped 27%, which included an 18% drop in violent offenses and a 29% decrease in property crimes through July of 2025 compared to last year.
