Centro route change forces Brighton Towers residents to dodge traffic (Your Letters)

While there has been much attention on the tragic deaths of the international students crossing a street near Syracuse University, little attention has been given to the incredibly dangerous situation Centro has created for pedestrians at Brighton Towers.

For at least 20 years, Centro buses have pulled into Brighton Towers on trips from downtown. Now they claim it somehow too dangerous for their huge buses to make a left-hand turn out of the property onto East Brighton Avenue, but it is fine for the older residents to dodge traffic trying to make their way home by crossing the street in what Centro calls heavy traffic, or take a 20-minute ride up and back to Nob Hill to be let off in front of Brighton Towers.

One customer service person told me that it has nothing to do with safety, but the problem is that it sometimes causes them to be late getting back downtown to the hub…
