Day 7 at the NYS Fair: Today’s handpicked menu and schedule

Geddes, N.Y. — The skies tried to drizzle on our fun Monday, but it didn’t last. The sprinkle felt more like powdered sugar on a funnel cake than a real storm, and the fair went right on buzzing. By day’s end, 55,972 people had entered the grounds.

Tuesday is Beef Day and Fire, Rescue & EMS Day. Beef Day fills the barns with cattle shows, the hay bale throwing contest and free cow ear headbands for the first 1,000 kids. Fire, Rescue & EMS Day means free admission for active and retired first responders, a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial and a parade at 6 p.m. from the Expo Center.

At 3 p.m., the Pan-African Village will honor the late Van Robinson, civil rights leader and founder of the village, with a special dedication…
