SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Syracuse University Chancellor and President Kent Syverud, will have one more year before his time at the university comes to an end, he announced.
The chancellor released a statement on Aug. 26, explaining that he has decided to step down following much reflection regarding himself and the upcoming academic year.
“Serving this University has been the greatest privilege of my career. For a native New Yorker who grew up just west of here in Irondequoit, the opportunity to lead Syracuse University has been both humbling and profoundly meaningful, and in many ways like coming home,” said Chancellor Syverud.
After over 12 years, he will step down in June 2026…
