Police cracking down on handicap parking abuse at the fair and amphitheater

GEDDES, N.Y. — With crowds flocking to the New York State Fair and concerts at the Lakeview Amphitheater, parking is at a premium, but some of the most important spots are being misused.

Authorities say handicap-accessible spaces are often taken by drivers using fake or borrowed tags to get closer parking. That misuse, they stress, takes away access from people who truly rely on those spots.

“We want to make sure that people with disabilities have accessible parking here at the amphitheater we have the required amount of spaces for ADA parking and we double it just in case of overflow,” said Captain Crayg Dykes, the detail commander at the Amphitheater…
