Fayetteville-Manlius CSD may start school year without pouches to store phones amid ban

MANLIUS, N.Y. — The Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District announced on Friday afternoon that its pouches to store cell phones may not arrive in time before school begins.

In a letter sent home to families, the district said its non-locking Faraday-Velcro pouches were supposed to arrive in August from overseas. However, the shipping container that those pouches were in, was selected for a cargo inspection/examination by U.S. Customs & Border Protection.

The district said that it does not know when the pouches will arrive…
