GEDDES, N.Y. — Almost a decade after Warped Tour finally came to Syracuse– and almost 30 years after the culture-defining event first got started– All Time Low gave Fairgoers a taste of what they missed in the mid-2000s.
In a bygone era, the crowd would have swamped the mosh pit at the Lost Horizon. But gone are the adhesive floors and DIY environs of the Zillenials’ misbegotten youth, replaced with the open air of Suburban Park and an aged Alex Gaskarth (who still has most of his high notes).
On the setlist were some of the hits that made Gaskarth a fixture of MySpace pages and Tumblr timelines: “Coffee Shop Soundtrack,” “Poppin’ Champagne,” “Weightless” and “Dear Maria, Count Me In.” He’s not the same heartthrob that drove teenage girls into a Manic Panic fifteen years ago– but for all of our sakes, it’s probably for the best that this scene has come to a close. More than 18,000 people were at the show, and more than 100,000 visited the Fair on its eleventh day…
