CATO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It’s now been five days since federal agents raided the Cato factory, Nutrition Bar Confectioners, and NewsChannel 9 returned to the plant seeking answers about the allegations, trying to confirm if they hired immigrants who were not authorized to work in the United States.
The company’s attorney blocked NewsChannel 9’s attempts for an on-camera interview. Still, the owners had willingly stated ahead of time that they had current I-9 forms on file, documents required during the hiring process to verify each employee’s identity and work eligibility.
The U.S Department of Justice confirmed it is investigating the company on allegations of hiring workers who can’t legally work in the country. However, the Acting U.S. Attorney for the district, on Sept. 9, didn’t say precisely what he’s accusing the company of doing wrong…
