Syracuse school board should have conducted rigorous search for new leader (Your Letters)

I read with interest Marnie Eisenstadt’s article about the recent appointment of Pamela Odom as the next Syracuse City School District superintendent (“She graduated from Nottingham 3 decades ago. Now she’s about to run Syracuse’s schools,” Aug. 29, 2025). By all accounts, Odom has a tremendous resume and is a source of city pride as a Nottingham High School alumna.

However, I was concerned by one passage in particular:

Odom said she has been in training to take over the head spot since she was appointed to the deputy superintendent role two years ago.
