AUBURN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)– A prison officer was stabbed in his stomach by an inmate at the maximum security prison in Auburn, according to the correction officers’ union.
The officer was watching inmates leaving the mess hall after lunch on Sept. 19, according to a news release from the union, the New York State Correction Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA).
Allegedly, a 56-year-old inmate, who the union did not name, stabbed the officer, who also went unnamed, in the stomach. The officer immediately reacted and used pepper spray on the inmate’s face. The inmate immediately stopped and placed his hands on the wall outside the mess hall…
