Unattended cooking causes midnight apartment fire in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Fire Department said unattended cooking sparked a fire at an apartment in the city very early Wednesday morning.

The fire department was dispatched to James Geddes Housing at 427 Tully St. around 12:05 a.m. for a fire alarm activation. Crews saw flames coming from a seventh-floor window.
