Clinton Square gathering commemorates George Floyd with calls for justice and reform

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Dozens gathered in Clinton Square Tuesday night for a silent tribute to George Floyd on what would have been his 52nd birthday and to speak out against police brutality.

In 2020, 46-year-old Floyd was killed by Derrick Chauvin, a Minneapolis police officer, who kneeled on his neck during an arrest.

Chauvin was later sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison in 2021…
