ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Onondaga Nation is seeking to reacquire land along Onondaga Lake, a significant site in their history, but negotiations with Onondaga County have stalled.
Onondaga County passed a non-binding resolution in 2011 to return Maple Bay, a parcel of lakeshore land, to the Onondagas, but the area was too polluted. A second resolution in 2016 proposed the “eventual transfer” of another parcel, but progress has been slow.
