Bronze tributes to pioneering women physicians unveiled at SUNY Upstate Medical University

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Internationally acclaimed sculptor Carolyn D. Palmer was selected by SUNY Upstate Medical University through a national competition to create two bronze statues honoring Elizabeth Blackwell, MD, and Sarah Loguen Fraser, MD.

The statues will be officially unveiled on Oct. 23 in the courtyard outside Weiskotten Hall at the university.

According to Tactical Public Relations Inc., the statues are a tribute to the women who broke barriers in male-dominated professions. It will immortalize the two women who paved the way for future generations of physicians…
