56, 71-year-old men in Van Buren arrested, illegal guns, drugs found in their home

TOWN OF VAN BUREN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Two men, one 56 years old and the other 71, have been arrested after illegal firearms, controlled substances, and more were found during a search of their home.

New York State Police said that on Oct. 27, members of Troop D’s Community Stabilization Unit executed a search warrant for a home on Van Ness Road South, in the Town of Van Buren.

The search led police to seize an illegally possessed assault rifle, a New York-compliant assault rifle, two high-capacity magazines, over 100 amphetamine pills, multicolored methamphetamine pills, $7,218, and various amounts of ammunition and compliant firearm magazines.

As a result of the investigation, 56-year-old Anthony Carbonaro, of Baldwinsville, was arrested and charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree (Assault Rifle) – Class D Felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree (High-Capacity Magazines) – Class D Felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Non-Original Container – Violation

71-year-old Harvey Black, currently on parole and also of Baldwinsville, was additionally determined to reside at the address. He was found with controlled substances with the intent to sell. He was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree – Class B Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree  – Class C Felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree  – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Nine counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Non-Original Container – Violation

Both Carbonaro and Black were brought to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment…
