Syracuse Recovery Services looks to move to a new location at 139 North Main Street in the City of Cortland. The organization wishes to leave their current office at 6 Euclid Ave, just two blocks away. Reasoning, Syracuse Recovery Services says, is the new facility better suits their needs, is larger, and has better access to public transportation for their patients.
The building previously served as a dentistry office prior to closing and being for sale for a number of years. Syracuse Recovery Services needs approval by the City of Cortland Planning Commission of a site plan on the use of the property to an outpatient substance use disorder clinic. The request was reviewed previously by Cortland County Planning, who referred the request back to the city without comment.
Representing the project was the applicant, Megan Stiles, who says their current space at 6 Euclid needs improvements, particularly in their suit. Their building now shares space with CARS and two vacant offices. Stiles added they expect to see an increase in foot traffic and use of public transit with a Centro bus stop located nearby on Homer Ave. She continued on to say having their own space would also better suit their clients, who she added, sometimes have difficulty with those who use CARS.
