Slow down or pay up: Syracuse school zone cameras are now live

After two months of warnings, drivers in one major city are getting the message: If you speed through a school zone, you’re going to have to pay up.

Syracuse is committed to curbing speeding in school zones. At the start of this school year, the city installed speed and red-light cameras in designated school zones throughout the city and gave residents a 60-day warning period to adjust to the changes.

“I think we can all understand that we have an epidemic of speeding in our community,” Conor Muldoon said. “And I think this is one of the most important things that we can do to make our community safe.”…
