Firefighters battle vacant house fire in Syracuse, cause under investigation

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Just after midnight, firefighters responded to a vacant house fire on Hudson Street on the south side of Syracuse. Upon arrival, they found flames going up to the attic.

Approximately 30 firefighters responded to the scene, choosing to remain outside the home due to the number of unknowns. Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the fire, using fire ladders to access the structure from above.

Fortunately, no one was in the home at the time, and there were no reported injuries. However, the house sustained substantial damage and is likely a total loss…
