CATO, N.Y. — The New York Civil Liberties Union has filed a motion to unseal the warrant Immigration & Customs Enforcement used to detain Nutrition Bar Confectioners employees in September.
The NYCLU said it has concerns regarding the Sept. 4 raid at the facility in the small Town of Cato. 57 people in total were taken away by federal agents. The NYCLU said it fears that the civil search warrant used to search commercial spaces, known as a “Blackie’s warrant,” issued by a federal judge in Syracuse, may not have been constitutional.
Specifically, the NYCLU said it’s seeking the basis for how the warrant was obtained and used, citing public interest in the matter. It said that the public would be able to understand the issuance of the warrant if it were to be unsealed…
