Fire damages first floor of vacant Syracuse house, investigation into cause underway

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire on Tuesday after calls came in about a structure fire on Putnam Street just after 5 p.m.

Fire crews arrived within minutes of the call and found smoke coming from a one-and-a-half story house.

Firefighters entered the back of the house and located the fire on the first floor, where firefighters found no one was in the house…
